AIRE - Content Based Image Retrieval
The Adaptive Image Retrieval Extensions (AIRE) system is a simple and extensible Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) system written in Java, which can be used in a stand-alone client to organise and search through photos, or as a serverside application to present another way for users to access and search through large collections of images online.
CBIR is any way of choosing appropriate images from a collection using the image information itself, as opposed to traditional methods relying on meta-data such as tags. This includes for example matching colour, shape and texture to a small set of query images, and choosing the most appropriate results from a search set.
